Overview

Paragons: Age of Champions is an all-in-one high-fantasy deck-builder for 2-3 players featuring over 100 unique cards designed by a single artist.
I can finally share the Game Trailer of this incredible board game which I have art directed and animated.

SOFTWARE: Cinema 4D, Redshift, After Effects, Photoshop

Preproduction

Working alongside Armen, we used a temporary voice over and some early previsualizations to edit a rough version of the animatic.

Our main goal was to show off the overall sleek look of the box, the cards and the mats, whilst outlining the game play in style with a cinematic feel.

3D/2D Visual Development and Animation

I had to pull off a photo realistic look to sell the idea of a physical board game, steering away from videogames cliches. It was about time to embark in a new challenge, my first commercial project with Redshift.

Node based materials allowed me to achieve a very realistic look, in addition to getting all the benefits of a flexible and streamlined workflow.

The promo wouldn’t have been complete without the original artworks, so to spice things up, I rigged some cool parallaxes and smooth slow-motions featuring the illustrated characters of the World of Elysia in After Effects.

Soundtrack

To wrap this up, we needed a powerful soundtrack to go along with the bold visuals.
Massimo achieved total epicness with his original compositions; put your best headphones on and listen to the isolated music tracks.
